Best of 2010

I don’t remember planning to travel this much when 2010 started. I had my short wish list with only one Must Do highlighted. Somehow I put in as many miles on the road as I did in the air and ended up in four countries, 10 states and countless cities. While traveling is my passion, and priority for me, I don’t take for granted how lucky I am to be able to do this. It’s not possible without all the good friends and family who welcome me in their homes and all the new friends I make along the way.

Here are some of Best Of experiences of 2010. Sadly, I have not blogged about many of them. I guess that’s what New Year’s resolutions are for.

  • Ducks go to the Rose Bowl The first day of 2010 could only have been better if we had won.
  • The Grilled Cheese Truck Day two of 2010 and I have a truffle-infused mac and fontina cheese sandwich from The Grilled Cheese Truck in Venice, Calif. Words cannot describe how insanely good it is.
  • Two-Steppin’ in Austin It was pouring rain in Austin, but that didn’t stop the town from scootin their boots at the Broken Spoke. My inexperience didn’t slow friendly Texans from showing me the steps.
  • Jungles and Islands in BelizeIn one week I stood on top of a Mayan pyramid and snorkeled around the second largest barrier reef in the world.
  • Winnebago Road Trip One week on the road with a fellow climber as we drove his vintage bago through Bishop and Tahoe.
  • Cycling the Sheep’s Head Riding a bike to the lesser traveled Sheep’s Head Peninsula in Ireland was exhausting. And I’d do it again in a second.
